Here in Saint Patrick’s Primary and Nursery School, we provide a wide variety of after-school activities for our boys and girls. We currently offer Football, both Gaelic and Soccer, Camogie, Cycling Proficiency, Dance, ICT, Music, Irish, drama and art, aimed at Key Stage One and Two pupils depending on the club. The extra-curricular clubs change every term to ensure there are a wide range of activities available.
The benefits of after-school activities are numerous, so help your child choose a fun way to learn, develop talents and skill and build confidence. There are many social, physical and psychological advantages for children who participate in after-school activities rather than children watching the television every afternoon or playing game consoles. It aims to keep children physically fit, encourages fair play and respect for others and encourages children to live healthier lifestyles. They have the opportunity to develop their creativity, problem solving skills and explore their individual talents. After-school programmes enables children to distress and relax through casual interaction with peers. The most important benefit is enjoyment; the feel good factor and gaining greater self-esteem and confidence in themselves.
